Avantus Advances Arizona Solar-Plus-Storage Project with $300M Financing

Avantus has successfully closed a significant $300 million financing package to develop the Kitt Project, a solar-plus-storage facility located in Pinal County, Arizona. This initiative features a 100MWac/130MWdc photovoltaic solar array paired with a 400MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), positioning it as a notable advancement in utility-scale clean energy infrastructure. The project’s timing aligns with intensifying demands for flexible, dispatchable renewable power amid rising regional energy consumption and grid modernization efforts.

Technically, the integration of a large-scale BESS with a robust solar generation capacity enhances grid stability by smoothing output variability and enabling load shifting to match peak demand periods. The 400MWh storage capacity represents one of the more ambitious durations for battery systems paired with solar, allowing multiple hours of sustained energy delivery.
